Stainless steel strips have become an essential part of people’s lives and are closely related to their quality of life, as well as contributing to the national economy. So what exactly is stainless steel strip?

I. Types of magnetic stainless steel: martensitic or ferritic types, such as 430, 420, 410, etc., have magnetic properties.

II. There are various types of stainless steel, which can be classified into several categories based on the organizational structure at room temperature:

Austenitic type: non-magnetic or weakly magnetic, such as 304, 321, 316, 310, etc.

Martensitic or ferritic type: have magnetic properties, such as 430, 420, 410, etc.

III. 1. Type 420 - “Cutlery-grade” martensitic steel, similar to the earliest stainless steels like Bohler high-chrome steel. Also, it is used for surgical blades, which can be made very bright.

2. Type 430 - Ferritic stainless steel, used for decorative purposes, for example, automotive accessories. It has good formability but is poor resistant to high temperatures and corrosion.

3. Type 440 - High-strength tool steel with slightly higher carbon content. After appropriate heat treatment, it can achieve higher yield strength and hardness up to 58HRC. It is one of the hardest stainless steels. The most common application example is “razor blades”.
