Stainless steel is known for its high performance, and the use of this material has been an integral part of modern life, is widely used in heavy industry, construction, automobile manufacturing, surgery, and dentistry. So how is stainless steel material produced?

The first is to choose raw materials. Stainless steel is an iron alloy that requires to contain chromium, nickel silicon, manganese complex, carbon, and other added elements. It is also possible to fine-tune the properties of the final alloy by varying the amount of various alloying elements. Chromium is the most important element in the manufacture of stainless steel. It is necessary for the production of stainless steel, and there is currently no viable alternative. Chromium is a hard corrosion-resistant transitional element. In general, the higher the chromium content, the stronger its corrosion-resistant performance will be. After the raw materials are gathered, we can begin the stainless steel manufacturing process. The process includes seven basic steps in total: 1. Melting the raw materials; 2. Tuning or stirring; 3. Forming; 4. Hot-rolled and cold-rolled; 5. Annealing treatment and descaling; 6. Cutting and shaping; 7. Applying surface finishes. We will discuss the detailed process in our next article, please stay tuned.
